Skitourenguru

Privacy

Skitourenguru does not use cookies or trackers. Even seemingly harmless web pages sometimes contain dozens of trackers (typically Google Analytics) that meticulously record user behavior on the web page. Since the companies behind the trackers link the data with other data sets, anonymity can usually be broken.

1. What data is stored?

Skitourenguru stores and processes anonymized information about the selected routes. Each time a user clicks on a route, the following data is stored:

  • A number that uniquely identifies the selected route.
  • The time when the route was selected.
  • The risk indicator of the route.
  • A unique identifier (GUID) assigned to the user. The actual identity (name, address, etc.) of the user remains unknown and without any interest for Skitourenguru.
  • User-Agent: Name and version of the browser software. From this, conclusions can be made about the device used (e.g. smartphone versus computer).
  • The IP address of the user is not anymore recorded.
  • The referer: This is the web page from which the call to the selected route originated. In most cases the referer is Skitourenguru.
  • The detected or chosen language.

For routes that you draw or upload for adjustment and rating, the following data is also stored:

  • The geometry of the drawn or uploaded route.
  • In the case of recorded routes, the timestamp for the start and end.
  • The used settings for route adjustment.
  • The specified avalanche bulletin.
  • The difficulty degree of the route.

2. For what purpose is the data stored on Skitourenguru?

The data is stored and processed for the following purpose:

  1. Estimation of traffic: You can find the corresponding statistics under Current traffic on Skitourenguru.
  2. Research: Analysis of risk behavior. For example: How often are orange or red routes chosen compared to green routes? How high is the usage from the smartphone? Do heavy users on average choose routes with a higher risk indicator?
  3. Development: Improvement of the algorithm and the web page of Skitourenguru.

Skitourenguru does not make evaluations that concern individual users. It is always only about the behavior of large groups. The results of such evaluations are published on Skitourenguru.

Skitourenguru guarantees that no attempts will be made to remove the anonymity of the users.

3. Will the data be passed on?

Skitourenguru only passes on data to third parties (e.g. research institutions and individuals) if the evaluation is done jointly with Skitourenguru. Only data strictly required for the intended project are passed on. The recipients of the data are not allowed to pass them on. A passing on for another than the above mentioned purpose (with exception of judicial demand) is excluded.

4. What can I do if I do not want my data to be recorded?

You can prevent the use of cookies and site data in the browser settings or have the data deleted when closing the browser. However, this does not prevent the entry described above on the web server of Skitourenguru. If you do not agree with this recording, then there is only one option: Avoid Skitourenguru.
